Allen Ray

Mandolin and Baritone Vocals

Allen hails from Creedmoor, NC and is the newest member of the Cadillac Stepbacks...well, sort of. We've actually been pickin' with Allen at every bluegrass jam in the area for more than two years. He is one of the best pickers around. He knows every tune you can think of and he'll play them with you all night long if you'll let him.

Allen is the son of the locally well known Robert and Peggy Ray, who also happen to be some of the nicest people we know. Their family has been deeply connected with the North Carolina bluegrass scene for years. Pretty much everyone who's anybody in Eastern North Carolina bluegrass music has picked at "The Rays" at some point. Allen has played music in this setting for most of his life. Bluegrass is in his blood, sure as anything we've ever seen, and we're glad to have him as a part of The Cadillac Stepbacks.

Allen also plays with his family band Sourwood Mountain and he has played with many other bands in the area including the Constant Change Bluegrass Band of eastern North Carolina.
