Jason Hedrick
Bass and Tenor Vocals
Jason
plays bass and sings tenor vocals for the Cadillac Stepbacks. Jason
grew up playing classical and jazz music under the valuable influence
of his parents who were long time music teachers in Albemarle, NC,
where he grew up. After searching through a variety of musical opportunities
in his life, Jason is happy to be back playing down home, North
Carolina bluegrass. His influences these days mostly include many
of the great jazz bass players and Mike Bub of Del McCoury Band
fame. Jason is definitely not your basic root-five bluegrass bass player. His
aggressive and authoritative style is heavily influence by the soulful
playing of many of the players you've probably heard, but may have
missed in your own music collection. Jason's bass is said to have
been seen smoldering after a wild evening of slapping and fast playing. Jason's
tenor vocals blend in the Stepbacks sound to add that "high
lonesome" bluegrass sound that helps to bring people back for
more.
